Lab 1 Quick-Start Overview
This first lab in the course is intended to let you get up and running in RStudio/Posit Cloud with a minimum of time investment. To that end, we have “flipped” the normal lab sequence a bit. The Lab 1 Quick-Start portion lets you get set up in RStudio/Posit Cloud and create a reproducible report in just a few minutes and a few clicks.
Then we take you through step-by-step what you just accomplished in the Quick-Start Debrief. This is intended to give you the beginnings of understanding how R works and how we will use “code chunks” throughout the course. In coming labs, we will do this “Rehearsal” first, but here we wanted to show you that you can do this work in Posit Cloud.
The final portion of Lab 1 is our Remix & Report section. In the Remix portion, you will make some edits of the Quick-Start code chunks to create your version of the original analysis graph. In the Report portion, you will answer some questions on Lab 1 and Data Literacy.
You will then generate your final lab 1 report, and submit it in the Canvas Module 1 Assignments.
We think most students should be able to complete Lab 1 in about an hour. If you do get stuck on something, no worries. Just reach out to your instructor and post questions in the M1.4 Discussion: Questions, Tips, Tricks & Solutions in Canvas.
